Context
We worked with one of the UK’s largest food retailers. The company has 63,000 employees across 9 verticals.
The company has a clearly defined set of values, which articulate and drive the behaviours required by high performers. A critical element of embedding these values is at the point of hire, both internally and externally.
Our Approach
Chemistry created a What Great Looks Like™ profile aligned to the the company’s values by collecting Intellect, Personality, Motivation and Behavioural data from 1,695 colleagues across all their business units and functions.
Five Personality traits and two Motivations were found to predict living the company’s values. Chemistry built the What Great Looks Like profile into an online Cultural Fit Assessment that took 10 minutes to complete. All candidates and hiring managers receive a customised feedback report that details a candidate’s cultural alignment to the company.
The Result
Since the tool was launched in May 2018, the company has assessed almost half a million candidates with the following key results:
- 90% external hires rated as achieving or exceeding expectations by their third performance review.
- 7% higher levels of employee engagement from colleagues hired through Chemistry’s Cultural Fit Assessment.
- Colleagues hired through the Cultural Fit Assessment are 2x more likely to stay with the company than others in the field.
