Jess joined Chemistry as a Lead Consultant in August 2011 having spent the last 10 years working in various HR roles in the Telecomms, Leisure and Professional Services industries.
Jess is really passionate about business and the difference people can make to their success and has enjoyed working in very commercial environments and customer focussed teams. She’s had the opportunity to work on amazing projects and has a whole host of people change experience where she’s worked with leadership teams to help them think differently about their people and then implemented innovative solutions as a result.
In Jess’s last role, she worked as a HR Business Partner for Telefonica O2. Jess led the People for the Future programme for the Retail business which resulted in a number of changes in recruitment, development and the culture and consequently significant improvements to customer satisfaction. Jess also led the largest change programme in O2 Retail’s history, introducing store categorisation and supporting investment decisions for the store estate. Prior to this, Jess also worked with other Consumer Sales teams at Telefonica O2 and played a pivotal role in setting up the internal Telesales team and growing it from 13 people to a team of nearly 200 over an 18 month period.
Prior to this Jess worked at AMF Bowling, Carlisle Group and Luminar Leisure, gaining valuable business and HR experience in a number of areas and achieving lots along the way.
Strength Behaviours
Building Confidence
Jess is able to confront broader business issues and respond by making clear recommendations. Is able to take decisions which incorporate the interests and priorities of all stakeholders, internal & external. Jess takes responsibility and ownership for decisions made.
Making it Happen
Jess reduces the internal or external constraints on self and others to enhance the freedom for action and the scope for initiative. E.g., redesigns jobs to allocate more responsibility to the people closest to the customer; strips away unnecessary bureaucracy. Is always a step ahead of the game, presenting and signposting information, structure and next steps before others have even got the issue of the agenda. Leaves others with a strong sense of personal control, power and organisation.
Gathering Information
Jess searches a broad range of information from the external environment. E.g., information about new technological developments or relevant economic, political, social and demographic trends or the practices of comparable organisations or competitors. Jess seeks both objective and subjective information. He does not engage in complex decision making without a broad, rich information search.
