Binfield Banzai match report: Week 3

RSS Feeds

Full steam ahead for the Banzai train

This Wednesday saw the lads from Chemistry enter the third week of the season. Going into Wednesday nights game the Banzai were on 3 points after two games and looking to push on. The Banzai lined up: Swain, McKinnon, Ricky, Philby, Taylor and Quayle.

The game started positively and the early pressure was all with the Banzai. Learning from the mistakes of week one, the lads played a completely different game, playing it short and making the ball do the work. Mark ‘the cat’ Swain was rarely challenged in goal but anything that did come his way was dealt with expertly. It wasn’t long before the Banzai took the lead. One touch football all over the pitch carved out an opening which Quayle took with aplomb, slotting the ball into the bottom corner. However, not wanting to do anything the easy way, the Banzai decided to miss a ton of chances and then concede a soft goal.

The second half got under way with the scores leveled at one a piece. The Banzai were fired up after conceding a silly goal and it didn’t take Quayle long to atone for his earlier misses. Taylor fed him a delicious pass that he latched on to, turning the defender and pinging the ball off both posts on the way in. With the lead back the Banzai turned on the class, keeping the ball and tiring the opposition. It was truly a festival of football. Philby had some classy moments including teeing Taylor up for his 20 yard screamer before sending the crowd (Harry) into raptures with a stunning miss-hit half volley to seal the win. At 4-1 there was no way back for the opposition, especially with the Banzai back three of Swain, Ricky and McKinnon playing a near perfect game.

So onwards and upwards. Watch this space for more match reports!!
